A study in single origin, single variety winemaking. All of the Petite Pearl grapes that go into this vintage of the same name are grown at our Mt. Philo vineyard in Charlotte, VT. A relatively new cold-hardy red wine grape variety developed for northern climates, particularly those with cold winters and short growing seasons, it was bred by renowned grape breeder Tom Plocher in Minnesota, USA, and introduced in the early 21st century.
Light-bodied and balanced, it displays aromas and flavors of blueberry, black currant and smoked raspberry plus a pleasing herbal quality of fresh rosemary. This dry red has been meticulously fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve its pure and authentic character.
We like it paired with pork roast basted with currant jelly and crispy roasted potatoes.
