Discover our 2022 Shelburne Vineyard Marquette, an embodiment of the resilient Marquette grape (a cold-hardy hybrid variety related to Pinot Noir, but suited to our northern climate). We farm Marquette on all of our vineyards in Vermont's Champlain Valley, including some of the oldest Marquette vines in the state which we planted in 2006. Marquette is the quintessential cold climate red wine grape and beautifully expresses our ancient seabed terroir.
The 2022 vintage was aged sur-lie for 8 months in our neutral oak barrels. Aromas of dried raspberry, black cherry, violets and herbal tea lead to a palate of raspberry jam and sandalwood. The wine is medium-bodied and assertive, with a pleasant punch of pink grapefruit on the finish.
Pairing suggestions: alpine cheeses, rustic tomato sauces, dinner with your best friends.
